NOTIFICATION OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON CAMPUS

Dear Tribe,
In keeping with Avinger ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families that one staff member who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19, was present on the campus of Avinger ISD School. The staff member’s last day was February 26, 2021. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individuals or details that may identify him or her.
In summary, we have 4 adult cases and 1 student case posted at this time.
All students and staff that we can trace as a close contact have been directly notified. Close contacts will follow CDC new guidance. If anyone has any symptoms of Covid 19, please notify your student’s teacher, call 903-490-1356, or email help@avingerisd.net or jsmith@avingerisd.net. Also, consult your doctor.
Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
If you or any member of the Avinger ISD community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that his not typical, we encourage you to contact us using the above information and your physician. We encourage anyone in the Avinger ISD community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to notify our school.
If anyone shows any symptoms over the next 14 days, please, contact me so we can discuss a return date. It is imperative for us to protect our students, staff, and community by staying home when symptoms of Covid 19 are present.

The staff member’s last day was February 26, 2021. The student’s last day was February 25, 2021.
Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individuals or details that may identify him or her.

o Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
o Sore throat; o New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
o Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
o New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever

In the event of school being dismissed, a delayed start, or an early release because of bad weather, information will be sent out through the One Call phone system. It is very important that you keep the school updated with your current phone number so that you can receive this information. This information will also be sent out through Avinger ISD website and Facebook. Attempts will also be made to have the information on TV Channels 3, 6, 7, and 12.

Avinger ISD is dedicated to planning for the safety of our students, staff, and community for the 2020-2021 school year. We are working hard to ensure plans are being prepared to have a safe, healthy school.
